In recent years, relapse rates for people in recovery from a methamphetamine addiction were as high as 97%. Those in recovery from cocaine or heroin addiction don't fare much better, with up to 80% relapsing within one year of treatment. 

 

Traditional therapies are effective over time but do not address significant biological changes that leave the individual unable to experience positive moods in early recovery. Anyone in recovery knows that a life without joy is not a life worth living, so many people turn back to their drug of choice just to feel anything.
