Schedule of events

10:00 a.m. Friday: The first 5K begins!
Every hour after that: Another lap. Another chance to see what you’ve got.
10:00 a.m. Saturday: The 24-hour celebration wraps up.

race format

One 5K lap. Every hour. On the hour.

The goal is to complete as many laps as you can, up to 24. Finish each lap before the next hour begins, and whatever time remains is yours to eat, rest, change socks, or reconsider your hobbies.

Your race ends one of two ways: your body says you’re done, or you make it through all 24 laps by the 24-hour cutoff.

Before every lap, we’ll give you a little warning:

  • Two minutes before the hour: A bell will clang, and the race director will announce, “Two minutes!”

  • One minute before the hour: The bell will clang again, followed by, “One minute!”

  • On the hour: The next lap begins.

You must be at the start line when the lap begins. If you miss the start or don’t finish your lap before the next one starts, your race is over. We’re laid-back about a lot of things, but the clock keeps moving.

This isn’t a full, traditional backyard ultra, so we’re keeping the other rules pretty relaxed. Pacers and friends can join you for encouragement, conversation, and shared suffering. Bring your own food or have someone meet you halfway around the course to restock. Walking poles? Headphones? Whatever helps you keep moving—bring it.

That’s what this race is about: finding your limits. Whether you’re pushing toward your first 10K, double-digit mileage, a marathon, or an ultra, we’re here for it.

Entry Fee / Donation

This race is 100% free to enter. No entry fee.

I love running, and I love watching people discover how strong they truly are. Runfield Rewind is a celebration of that.

In place of an entry fee, we ask two things from every participant:

1. Find someone willing to back your laps.

Each runner must secure at least one donor pledging at least $1 per completed lap. Run one lap, and that donor contributes $1. Run all 24, and they contribute $24. More donors and bigger pledges are absolutely welcome.

This is our first year putting on Rewind, and we’re hoping y’all will step up and help make it count. All proceeds go directly to Outsiders Anonymous, a veteran and mental health nonprofit serving our neighbors in Hays County.

We’ve also got a little extra motivation:

  • Raise $100: Get a free entry to the 2027 Buda Turkey Trot.

  • Raise $250: Get a free entry to the 2027 Runfield Race Series.

  • Be our overall fundraising champion: Choose $200 in gym equipment from our friends at The Unbranded Fitness.

2. Bring something for the snack and refreshment tent.

Think potluck, but for people making questionable endurance decisions. Bring something fellow runners can enjoy between laps. Sweet, salty, homemade, or store-bought—it all helps.

No casseroles, please. We have enough challenges planned.

Start area

Since this is a 24-hour race, we’re hoping you’ll move in.

Bring a pop-up canopy or camping tent and make yourself comfortable in the grass field at the Start Area. No stakes allowed, so plan accordingly. Bring chairs, blankets, spare shoes, your cheering section, and whatever makes your between-lap home feel like home.

We’ll have a generator available for recharging essentials and emergencies, although we can’t promise to power everyone’s entire campsite. Restrooms and water fountains will also be available.

At Race HQ, expect snacks and refueling options galore—think Halloween mixed with a bake sale. It’s all free and there to help you find your limits. We’ll also have water and DripDrop electrolyte mix available throughout the event.

Bring as many spectators as you want. The more people cheering, hanging out, and asking “you’re going out AGAIN?” the better.

The course

The course is a fully paved, moderately hilly 5K loop through the neighborhood. We’ll mark the turns and key intersections so you can focus on moving forward—and eventually develop a very personal relationship with every hill.

Intersections will not be monitored or closed to traffic. Stay alert, use the sidewalks where available, and watch for vehicles when crossing streets.

Also, watch for “doggie landmines” in the grass. There are better ways to make this race memorable.

No water stops on the course

swag

Free race. Actual swag. Slightly questionable medal accuracy.

We always have shirts left over from our events, and now they get another day in the sun. Every runner can grab a leftover 2026 Runfield event shirt to commemorate their time at Rewind.

And because we know that medal means something, we’re recycling our 2026 race medals into your finisher’s medal. Going farther than a half marathon? That’s where the Sharpie comes in. Custom distance. Hand-finished. Extremely exclusive.

We’ll also have commemorative coins for runners reaching these ultra milestones:

  • 50K

  • 50 miles

  • 100K

  • All 24 laps—75 miles

Old swag. New stories. Earn yours.
